Platform Overview

What SupplyMaven is and how it helps you

What is SupplyMaven?

SupplyMaven is a real-time supply chain risk intelligence platform built for procurement professionals, supply chain managers, financial analysts, and operations leaders. It continuously monitors global supply chain conditions across five dimensions — transportation, energy, materials, macroeconomic health, and manufacturing activity — and synthesizes them into actionable risk scores and AI-powered intelligence briefs.

Unlike traditional supply chain monitoring tools that rely on monthly government reports or manual surveys, SupplyMaven ingests data from dozens of real-time sources (energy grids, port vessel tracking, commodity exchanges, federal economic databases, news feeds) and updates every 15 minutes. This gives you a 6–24 hour early warning advantage over conventional indicators.

Core Concepts

SupplyMaven centers on two proprietary indexes:

  • Global Disruption Index (GDI) — A composite 0–100 score measuring global supply chain risk across four pillars. Higher = more risk.
  • SupplyMaven Manufacturing Index (SMI) — A proprietary 0–100 indicator of U.S. manufacturing activity derived from weather-adjusted electricity demand. Lower = stronger manufacturing (inverted scale).

These two indexes are independent — the SMI does not feed into the GDI. They measure different things: the GDI tracks global supply chain disruption risk, while the SMI tracks domestic manufacturing health.

How Data Flows

External data sources (energy grids, commodity exchanges, port scanners, government databases) are ingested on automated schedules. Each data point flows through a calculation pipeline:

External API → Ingestion → Index Calculation → Dashboard Display

The dashboard updates reactively — when upstream data changes, your view refreshes automatically. No manual page reload required.

Data Integrity Commitment

SupplyMaven never displays fake or estimated data. Every number on the platform comes from a verified database query or external API. When data is unavailable, you will see:

  • “—” (dash) — Data not yet available. This is not the same as zero.
  • STALE badge (yellow) — Data exists but is more than 24 hours old.
  • LIVE badge (green) — Data is current and actively updating.
  • NO_DATA badge (red) — Data source is currently offline.

Who is SupplyMaven For?

  • Procurement Teams — Monitor commodity prices, sourcing risk, and supplier region disruptions.
  • Supply Chain Managers — Track port congestion, border delays, and logistics bottlenecks in real time.
  • Financial Analysts — Assess macroeconomic headwinds and manufacturing trends before official reports.
  • Operations Leaders — Get early warning of production disruptions across U.S. manufacturing regions.
  • Risk Managers — Build proactive mitigation strategies with AI-powered scenario analysis.
